The Local Community

A key objective of The Trust is to make Dumfries House inclusive. Whenever possible, restoration work on the property and its grounds will involve local people.

Furthermore, the opening up of the house to visitors will be enhanced by opening up the surrounding landscape.

It is hoped that the opening of Dumfries House to the public, and the development of the related land, will together act as powerful agents of economic regeneration for East Ayrshire and beyond.

It is intended that an extensive public consultation process on the development be undertaken early this year led by The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment.
